Abstract

Chao and Sue (1996) argued that the current conceptualization of parental authoritarianism ignored the purpose of parental control and so fails to adequately reflect the meaning of the authoritarian behaviors of Asian parents. The Baurmind's parenting model also does not capture core meanings in Chinese parenting. In this research, three groups of students consist of Anglo-Australian, Australian Hong Kong Chinese, and Hong Kong Chinese completed self-report measures of the above variables. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test how well the Western fitted in the model. A new concept of parenting and the variables for Hong Kong Chinese were also defined. The findings highlighted the cultural differences in child and educational development between Western and Chinese parenting styles.

Comprehensive School Guidance Programs in the United States

Abstract

A description of comprehensive school guidance programs in the United States is provided. This description is followed by a presentation of the steps school districts in the United States go through to develop and implement such programs. The next section describes the three kinds of evaluation being used to assess the impact of these programs on students' academic, career, and personal-social development. The last section provides some research evidence of the impact of comprehensive guidance programs on students in the schools of the United States.

本文首先介紹何謂美國的全方位學校輔導計劃,接著闡明美國校區在發展及推行上述計劃要經過的步驟。文章再以三項評價標準,評估計劃對於學生在學業、事業、個人及社會發展方面的影響。最後,就全方位學校輔導計劃對美國學生的影響,提供研究實證的資料。

大陸學生心理輔導發展的一個基本特點是,在薄弱的基礎上,由政策主導,官方推動,以超常的速度推進。這使得大陸的心理輔導在近年呈現迅速成長的態勢,但也由此產生基礎和條件與速度不能協調的問題。本文對大陸學校輔導的現狀、特點和存在的問題作了系統的闡述。

Abstract

The basic conditions and characteristics of the development of school counseling in the Chinese Mainland are that it has been boosted by the government on a weak ground and with an overruning speed. Owing to these conditions, the fast growing profession has to face many problems caused by inconsistency between the foundation and the speed. This review gives an expatiation on the actual conditions, characteristics, and problems on school counseling in the Chinese Mainland.

本文主要探討台灣小學輔導工作之發展及其專業發展之內涵。論文首先介紹台灣小學輔導工作之發展背景,追溯其受社會需求與教育政策影響下的演變過程,繼而聚焦在「個案處理」、「諮詢」、「團體輔導」及「專業養成與督導」等四大專業內涵上,進一步整理台灣小學輔導工作的實施現況,並輔以實徵研究說明四大專業內涵的實施情形,最後提出台灣小學輔導工作之未來展望。

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explore the development of elementary school guidance and counseling in Taiwan and its implementation on the professional services. The paper first introduces the development of elementary school guidance and counseling from the perspective of societal needs and educational policy. Then, it focuses on the four dimensions of professional service: case management, consultation, group counseling, and professional training and supervision, and illustrates their implementation from empirical studies. Finally, some developmental prospects for elementary school guidance and counseling in Taiwan are proposed.

一直以來,提供督導安排被視為培訓及支援輔導人員的重要一環,但本港小學輔導人員的督導安排卻長期不被重視。本文旨在探討這備受忽視的情況,除了扼要闡述本港小學輔導人員督導安排的發展及現況外,更嘗試歸納三個發展小學輔導督導的阻礙,同時就上述的分析,提出四個可行的改善建議。期望透過有關課題的整理及討論,引起政策制定者的關注及回應,從積極的方向思考處理本港輔導人員欠缺督導的問題。

Abstract

The provision of supervision of counseling professionals has long been considered as one of the important aspects for professional development, support and skill instruction. However, the supervision of counseling professionals in Hong Kong primary schools has been ignored for many years. Aiming at bringing up this overlooked issue, this paper examines the development and current status of supervision of counseling professionals in Hong Kong primary schools. Three major problems hindered the provision of supervision are discussed. In addition, recommendations to the counseling professional community, counselor educators and school counselor supervisors are suggested.

青春期是常識科「健康與生活」學習範疇的核心學習內容,本文討論電腦中介學習資源的設計以支援探究為本學習,讓學生能主動及按需要認識青春期。電腦中介學習資源提供探究內容,包括情景個案及虛擬工具。情景個案提供青春期遇上的問題供青少年討論思考,虛擬工具提供資訊作為思考討論的基礎。虛擬工具的量磅、量尺、放大鏡和X光機支援學生探索青春期身體的變化、性特徵的發展及生殖器官的構造。教師可引導學生利用虛擬工具尋找資訊,令學生能對個案作出充分的討論和明智的判斷。

Abstract

This article discusses how computer-mediated learning resources are designed and implemented to support the inquiry approach for primary school pupils to have better understanding of puberty, which is a core element in the Health and Living Strand of General Studies in the Hong Kong primary curriculum. The computer-mediated learning resources include case studies and virtual devices. The case studies provide situations of harassment and questions that early adolescents may encounter. The virtual devices of balance, meter rule, magnifying lens, and x-ray machine help learners look into the body changes and sexual development during puberty, as well as reproductive anatomy. Teachers can guide pupils to work individually or in groups to search for supporting information from the virtual devices for discussion and making wise choices in solving problems encountered in puberty.
