As the world turns and days fade into months, the Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research has seamlessly journeyed through three decades. Since its establishment in 1993, the Institute has always adhered to the purpose of promoting educational academic inquiry and professional development in the region. The accomplishments of the Institute are a testament to the support and dedication of various parties. I sincerely thank the Tin Ka Ping Foundation and the Faculty of Education for their continued support over the years, as well as the former and current colleagues of the Institute who have devoted countless efforts and created many opportunities for the Institute to flourish.

HKIER’s 30th anniversary serves not only as a significant milestone but also as a launching point for new beginnings. As we look towards the future, we embrace new challenges with an open mind and will continue to drive the advancement of educational research and development. I am deeply confident that the Institute, together with the concerted efforts of affiliated Centres and Projects, will continue to grow and further contribute to the academia, the education profession and the wider community, within our borders and beyond.
