家長參與學校教育的角色

香港近年的教育改革,強調家校合作、學校領導和教師專業為學校成功的重要因素。因此,發展家長和學校的夥伴角色是促進家校合作的重要目標。本文介紹一個質向的探索性個案調查,目的是瞭解在教育改革過程中,家長的角色轉變如何影響他們參與學校教育,調查以家校聯繫的層次模式作為理念架構,在三所小學進行觀察、訪問及參與等活動。調查發現家長雖然有機會扮演不同的參與角色,但家長的管理角色常被邊緣化,夥伴角色只是虛浮的言詞,家長的參與往往受制於學校的開放態度,家長的角色最終變為協助推行校務的工具。

Abstract

Home-school cooperation, school leadership and teacher professionalism are regarded as three significant elements of a successful school in the recent school reform movement in Hong Kong. Developing partnership relationships is thus an important goal. This article attempts to introduce a qualitative and exploratory case study of home-school cooperation, aiming at understanding how parents' involvement in school education is influenced by their changing roles in the process of school reform. The study adopted the Model of Home-School Cooperation as the conceptual framework. Data were collected through the activities of participation, observation and in-depth interviews in three primary schools. The findings indicate that though parents were provided with opportunities to play different roles in school, their governing roles were often marginalized and the role of partnership was of empty rhetoric in many ways. Parental involvement was constrained by how open the school administration was and parents' roles became a tool for carrying out school practices in the end.

西北貧困地區農村小學社會課程實施狀況的個案調查

在中小學開設社會課,是近年來中國大陸基礎教育課程改革的重大舉措之一。本研究運用深度訪談、課堂觀察、教學檔案分析和問卷等方法,對西北貧困地區農村中小學社會課的開設及其效果作了深入研究。研究結果顯示:學校和教育行政部門對社會課重視不夠、學校缺乏專門的社會課教師、教師教學方法單一,以及社會課效果較差等。文章提出要從轉變觀念、培訓專門的社會課教師、改進社會課教學方法、編制多樣化的社會課教材等方面,來加強社會課的實施。

Abstract

Teaching Social Studies in primary and secondary schools is one of the important measures in the current basic education curriculum reform in China. Employing the methods of in-depth interview, classroom observation, teaching portfolio analysis and questionnaire survey, this research has made a thorough study on the actual situation and teaching effect of this subject in rural primary and secondary schools of the poor northwest regions of China. The research results showed that the schools and local educational administrative authority did not pay enough attention to this subject, schools were short of professional teachers in Social Studies, teaching methods were unitary, and the teaching effect was not satisfactory. It is suggested that in order to reinforce the implementation of Social Studies, it really needs to change the existing idea and mental model towards this subject, train professional teachers, improve teaching methods, and develop diversified textbooks and teaching materials.

This paper reports on a study of Hong Kong primary English teachers' selection of coursebooks after the implementation of a task-based, learner- and learning-centred primary English curriculum. The paper begins with an outline of the current Hong Kong primary English curriculum and the place of the coursebook in it. This is followed by a report of the study itself. The paper finishes with a discussion of three important issues emerging from the study. These issues are (1) refining the decision-making process for coursebook selection, (2) professional support for teachers in their selection of English coursebooks, and (3) coursebook evaluation as an activity for school-based professional development.

現行香港之小學英語課程,以學習為本,並以課業為主要之教學活動。在此課程取向下,教師該如何選擇教科書?本文所報告之研究,正嘗試探討此問題。本文分三部分,第一部分介紹香港現行之小學英語課程及教科書之角色,第二部分為本研究之報告,第三部分討論三個有關的課題,分別為如何改進選書的程序、如何給予教師相關的專業支援,和如何將選書轉化成校本的專業發展活動。

摘要

本文的目的是說明當今學校教育改革對教師專業發展和教師工作的影響,並以中國內地和香港的教師發展為題,提供反思和借鑒的資料。本文以世界教育改革大潮為背景,以改革政策為依歸,討論教師工作性質的轉變、教師所面對的專業要求和自身的專業限制,及教師教育可如何改進以成就教師的發展。決策者在要求教師配合改革的同時,亦應注意處於不同發展階段的教師的情況,認真認識和考慮教與學情境的多種變數,和可如何讓教師作出更有效的調節。

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to delineate the effects of educational reform on teachers and teacher development. Teacher education in the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong provides the context of illustration of the functions and limitations of teacher education, and its possible contribution to teacher development and the work of teachers. Under the waves of educational reform that the world has experienced in the past decade, teachers need to change their way of thinking about teaching as well as their teaching methodology if they are to satisfy the requirements of educational reform. The ways that teachers adjust their thinking and work habits in varying stages of career development, and the ways they choose to confront the requirements of reform, depend very much on how individual teachers view their own development and the meaning of their work. In the endeavor to transform schools and their teachers, policy-makers would do well to understand: the many change possibilities that the interaction of teachers, environment, and work may afford; the conditions needed for the sustainable development of teachers and therefore the continual success of reform; and their own limitations that some have chosen to conveniently overlook.
